What is Bovine Colostrum?

Bovine Colostrum is one of the most complete products that exist today. It is a pre-milk substance produced by a bovine cow after giving birth to her calf. Bovine colostrum is collected between the first milking of a cow and first 16 hours after birth.

Bovine colostrum is confirmed to be “a very complex fluid rich in nutrients, antibodies and growth factors. (R. Pakkanen & J. Aalto, 1997) and “is loaded with immune, growth and tissue repair factors” (F.O Uruakpa, M.A.H Ismond & E.N.T Akobundua).

What is Milk of Life?

LifeProof Supplements’ MILK OF LIFE is a bovine colostrum powder supplement produced from premium quality ingredients.

Bovine Colostrum is collected within the first 16 hours after the calf is born from USDA Grade A Dairies. Raw Colostrum from each dairy undergoes a testing protocol to assure it is from the milking, free from antibiotics, pesticides and other testing parameters.

MILK OF LIFE is a low-heat processed; laboratory tested and contains 20% immunoglobulins (igG).

Health Benefits of  Colostrum – Milk of Life

Colostrum is a complex fluid rich in antibodies and is natural source of many nutrients, amino acids and immunoglobulins (IgG).

A study by F.O Uruakpa,, M.A.H Ismond and E.N.T Akobundu (2002) found that bovine colostrum:

  • can be used to treat or prevent infections of the gastrointestinal  tract.
  • may play a significant role in healthcare in the future.
  • in addition to providing immune support, colostrum has remarkable muscular-skeletal repair and growth capabilities.

Their research also found that “colostrum is the only natural source of two major growth factors namely, transforming growth factors alpha and beta, and insulin-like growth factors 1 and 2. These growth factors have significant muscle and cartilage repair characteristics.”

Growth factors are peptides that function as intercellular signaling molecules to turn on or turn off the production of specific proteins in the target cells. MILK OF LIFE contains 20% IgG.

For all individuals, the Centre for Nutritional Research also lists the additional benefits bovine colostrum including:
  • Anti ageing
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Athletic performance
  • Body building
  • Diet Digestion
  • Endurance Epithelial
  • Growth factor (EGF)
  • Fat reduction and utilization
  • Gut health
  • Increased lean muscle mass
  • Insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1)
  • Immunity Muscle repair
  • Muscle tone Mobility
  • Nutrient absorption
  • Skin elasticity
  • Sports performance
  • Strength
  • Stamina Tissue repair and growth
  • Weight loss

For athletes, colostrum is said to stimulate production and repair of RNA and DNA, as well as repair of damaged muscle fibers and the IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor 1) is able to “promote muscle growth by itself,” (Muscle and Fitness associate editor Steve Schwade).
